FOLLOW AFTER JESUS

Pastor Rodney Howard Browne encourages people to follow after Jesus!

Matthew 4:18-23(NAS)

18And walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 19And He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” 20And they immediately left the nets, and followed Him. 21And going on from there He saw two other brothers, James the {son} of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and He called them. 22And they immediately left the boat and their father, and followed Him. 23And {Jesus} was going about in all
Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people.

Matthew 9:9(NAS)
9And as Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man, called Matthew, sitting in the tax office; and He said to him, “Follow Me!” And he rose, and followed Him.

Peter, Andrew, James, John, and Matthew were all going about their business as usual, when Jesus called on them to follow Him. It appears that they did not even hesitate, they did not argue, they did not make excuses. They dropped everything and instantly obeyed Him. 1 Corinthians 8:3(Amp) says that if we love God truly we will “promptly obey” Him. What a commitment these men had and what blessing was poured out on them. They paid a price, but they were the “first-born from the dead” after Jesus arose from the grave and the world will forever remember them as the pioneers of the church. They got to preach the Gospel first and to see the same miracles that Jesus did, taking place through their lives.

Mark 8:34-38(NAS)
34And He summoned the multitude with His disciples, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 35″For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s shall save it. 36″For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul? 37″For what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? 38″For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”

Jesus gave up His needs, wants and desires to come to the earth, walk as a man, humble Himself, suffer persecution, pain, rejection and death for us. We may think that we have given up so much to serve God, but we have given up nothing at all! We have given up sin, sickness, and the wages of sin, which is death! We lose our lower, natural, temporal life for Jesus and we find His higher, spiritual, eternal life. Nothing this world offers can compare with God’s eternal life. The things of this world are so tempting, but as anyone who has had a near-death experience or a vision of heaven will tell you – the things of the world fade into nothing in the presence of God.

Luke 9:57-62(NAS)
57And as they were going along the road, someone said to Him, “I will follow You wherever You go.” 58And Jesus said to him, “The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air {have} nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” 59And He said to another, “Follow Me.” But he said, “Permit me first to go and bury my father.” 60But He said to him, “Allow the dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and proclaim everywhere the kingdom of God.” 61And another also said, “I will follow You, Lord; but first permit me to say good-bye to those at home.” 62But Jesus said to him, “No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”

If you have decided to follow Jesus, do it with all your heart, mind, soul and strength. Don’t do it half-heartedly. Don’t do it with one foot still in the world. God hates luke-warm Christians. It is all or nothing. Don’t look back longingly at where you have come from. Your old life was not that great. If it were you would still be there. This is your new life. Commit to serve God, holding nothing back. God will be as committed to you as you are to Him – so give Him your best!

Jesus revieled

The Holy Spirit is the revealer of Jesus to the believer, in the believer and through the believer. Jesus revealed to the believer by the Holy Spirit He shall glorify me: for He shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you. All things that the Father hath are Mine: therefore said I, that He shall take of mine and show it unto you. John 16: 14 & 15 No one knows Jesus, as well as the Holy Spirit. He was with Christ when they both pre-existed with the Father through eternity past, He was with Him throughout His earthly ministry, through the sacrifice of the cross and the glorious resurrection. The Holy Spirit reveals the nature and character of Jesus to the believer. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, Jesus comes alive to us. He walks out of pages of the Gospel and becomes real and alive in our hearts.

Jesus revealed in the believer by the Holy Ghost But when it pleased God, Who separated me from my mothers womb, and called me by His grace, to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the heathen….. Gal. 1:15 & 16 The main purpose of the plan of redemption – Jesus giving His life – was to restore man to the image of God, as he was before the fall of Adam. After you be come born-again (John 3:3), the Holy Spirit’s desire is to place Christ’s nature and likeness in your heart, (and the heart of every born-again believer), by revealing Christ in you.

As the Holy Spirit is allowed to work in your life, you will have the Fruit of the Spirit, as mentioned in Gal. 5:22 & 23; and you will grow daily into the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ (Eph. 4:13). We need a daily revival in our lives. We need God’s power, His nature and His glory revealed to us and in us so that we can show forth His Glory, which is His desire for us. This is a process which continues in us until we see Him face to face – growing and changing – be coming more like Him every day. Jesus revealed through the believer by the Holy Ghost Mark 16:20 says that they (the disciples) went forth and preached everywhere and God confirmed the word with signs following. What was actually happening was the spirit being revealed through the believers, as they yielded to the Holy Spirit, as willing vessels. Jesus said that the believer would do the works that He did and greater works, because He was going to His Father (John 14:12). Through the believer, the Holy Spirit wants to show the world that Jesus Christ is the same – Yesterday, Today and Forever. What He did in bible days, He will do today. The Holy Spirit wants to demonstrate through you the living Lord Jesus. He is alive and He is working in the earth today through you and me! Our prayer for you is that Christ be formed in you (Gal. 4:19), so that you can be all that He wants you to be! Remember: To you – at the new birth In you – which is an ongoing process through out your Christian walkThrough you – as He demonstrates His power to a lost and dying world.

GREAT AWAKENING Gainesville

It was my first time going out on the streets, I started out being very nervous. After a couple times watching my partner I warmed up! Out of 20 people, 13 said yes to the Lord. Also, a bus load of kids came up to me and asked me to pray for them.

Powerful Prayer

Praying is so powerful.  “If My people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”  (2 Chronicles 7:14)  God is looking for a generation who will pray.  A generation who will cry out for their land.

An important thing that I have learned from sitting underneath Dr. Rodney and Adonica Howard-Browne’s ministry, is that when we pray God hears us.  They encourage us that God is just waiting for the man or the woman who will call out to Him.  And, when He answers, obey the call.  That’s what they did.  They cried out for America.  And then they came to America to obey the call.

Everytime that I pray to God, He answers, one way or the other.  He is just waiting for us to ask Him.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” (Matthew 7:7-8)

“Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.” (Psalm 2:8)

So what are we waiting for?  Ask God whatever you desire.  Ask Him for your city, your town, your village, your nation, as Dr. Rodney Howard-Browne has, and see the miracles that God will perform.

Some of you are waiting on God…but really, He is waiting on us!  SO ASK!

Only Believe

These past 6 months going on the Great Awakening Tour with Dr. Rodney Howard-Browne, I have really had a great revelation of what faith really is.  The Bible says that faith is a substance-it’s the substance of things that are hoped for (things you want but don’t have yet in the natural), the evidence (actual proof) of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1).  Have you ever read through the Bible and realized that everything from Genesis to Revelation is supernatural?  God is a supernatural God.  He is just waiting for the man or woman that will believe Him for the supernatural.  If you will only believe, everything in your life can be supernatural.  Who you marry, what job you have, direction, provision, anything and everything.

Did you know that when God speaks to you to do something it usually makes no sense in the natural?  Why?  If it was something that made sense, it would require no faith whatsoever.  But because it makes no sense, and there is no way that you in your own self could ever do it, your whole reliance and dependance is on God.  God spoke to Noah to build an ark, when it had never rained before.  For 100 years he preached that there was a flood coming, and many mocked him.  But he held fast to what God had told him.  He was a man just as we are and I am positive that he had thoughts and doubts from the devil that tried to come in and call him crazy.  I’m sure the enemy said, “you didn’t hear from God, what is rain?, you’ve lost your mind!”  But, thank God that he did not listen, because now we have an excellent example to follow. Just as God had said, so the flood came.

Faith is that evidence.  Faith believes with no proof in the natural.  Faith takes the Word of God and knows that it is true.  There is a realm beyond this natural realm…it is the supernatural realm that we can tap into.  To where we have whatever we ask because we keep His commandments (1 John 3:22).

Look at Abraham and Sarah.  They were promised a child in their old age–in their 90’s.  Imagine you grandmother and grandfather giving birth to a child!  Does that make any sense whatsoever?…NO!  But you know what, they waited for the promise for 25 years and received the promised child: Isaac.

What has God spoken to you and promised you?  What promises in the Word are you standing on?  It shall come to pass.  Only believe.  It doesn’t matter what the natural tells you.  Faith is what you hope for and evidence of what you do not currently see.  Even though you do not see it with your natural eye, start to see it in the spirit.  Start to picture it and actually believe.  That’s when your breakthrough will come.

Soul Winning

Feb 6 2008: GREAT AWAKENING TOUR CITY #23 PORT ST. LUCIE, FLORIDA Testimony:

I led 110 people to the Lord in 2 days. My goal was 100 per day. In the nursing home I met a man who was very angry & at first did not want to talk to me. As I softly spoke to him his face changed and his voice changed. He agreed to listen to me then he softened and received Christ.
